History of the Sharlopov Group

Since its foundation until today, Sharlopov Group has worked tirelessly to provide unique tourist experiences and establish Bulgaria as an attractive destination for rest and relaxation. The company's path is filled with moments of growth, innovation and recognition. Follow the important events that determined our direction and affirmed the values of the Charlopov Group.

Establishment of Sharlopov Hotels

1999

Stefan Sharlopov registered “Sharlopov Hotels” on April 20, 1999 in Sofia, focusing on a combination of balneotherapy and cultural tourism. The innovative concept “Home away from home” includes authentic Bulgarian elements in the interior and services, which immediately distinguishes the company in the market. The first sites are in resort towns such as Hisarya and Velingrad, where traditions and modern comfort intertwine.

The first hotel - Spa Hotel Devin

2000

Founded in 2000 as the first spa hotel of the group. Specializes in balneotherapy using local mineral springs. It integrates traditional Bulgarian architecture with modern design.

Strategic memberships in professional associations

2002-2005

The company joined the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism (2002), the Union of Tourism Industry (2003) and the Bulgarian Hospitality Association (2005). These steps strengthen the group's influence in the sector and allow it to participate in the formation of regulatory policies. Memberships also open doors to international partnerships and exchange of know-how.

Grand Hotel Murgavec, Pamporovo

2005

Discovered in 2005as the company's first winter sports hotel. Oriented to ski tourism and luxury spa treatments.

Park Hotel Pirin, Sandanski

2007

It started its activity in 2007 with a focus on the treatment of respiratory diseases. It has the largest mineral pool area in southern Bulgaria.

Grand Hotel Yantra, Veliko Tarnovo

2009

Founded in 2009with a theme inspired by the medieval history of the city. The offer includes cultural excursions and historical reconstructions.

First international expansion in Freudenstadt

2010

The Sharlopov Group opens a spa hotel “Palmenwald Schwarzwald” in Germany, aimed at the luxury customer segment. The project includes specialized detox and ayurveda programs adapted for the European market. This marks the beginning of an aggressive expansion strategy outside Bulgaria.

Complex Sozopolis

2014

Launched in 2014as an elite gated complex with private villas. The project imitates the style of Old Sozopol with modern eco-technologies.

Modernization of winter and summer destinations

2016-2017

Grand Hotel Murgavets and Sozopolis Complex with large-scale renovations.
2016: Grand Hotel Murgavets in Pamporovo receives new heating systems and biofilter for swimming pools (investment 1.2 million BGN).
2017: The Sozopolis complex expands its infrastructure with a private marina and 12 new villas.

Expansion, renovation and investment in Park Hotel Pirin

2017 - 2019

2017: BGN 4 million to expand the bed base and improve the spa conditions.
2019: BGN 5 million for the construction of a new wing with 54 luxury rooms and apartments integrating smart energy management technologies.

Revolution in spa tourism

2018

SPA Hotel Devin becomes the first in Bulgaria with a certificate of sustainability. The renovation of value 4.2 million BGN. includes geothermal heating and solar panels. A new mineral pool with underwater acoustic massage has been opened.

Digital Transformation

2019-2020

Park Hotel Pirin adds smart rooms and AI guest assistant. An investment of BGN 5 million for a new wing with 120 rooms equipped with automatic thermostats and voice control. Digital SPA programs for personalized therapies have been introduced. Platforms to manage the energy footprint of hotels reduce costs by 18%. This period marks the transition to data-driven management.

Launch of the program “Green Corridor”

2023

The initiative aims to reduce the carbon footprint by 40% through solar panels, eco-transport and zero plastic waste in hotels. The project is financed with funds from the European Green Package and partnerships with local producers. The results in the first year exceeded expectations by 15%.

Establishment of the Sharlopov Academy

2024

The training center was launched in partnership with Plovdiv University and the German Institute of Hospitality. Programs include simulations of crisis scenarios and training in sustainable tourism practices. The Academy has already trained more than 200 professionals from the sector.

Rebranding and a vision for the future

2025

Sharlopov Hotels, the first private hotel chain in Bulgaria with a history of more than 25 years, is entering a new era with a renewed brand identity, websites and a modern vision of each of the hotels.
