On the 16th of March 2015 at the “Pirin” Park Hotel in Sandanski the 10th edition of the "Winter School of Diplomacy" international seminar was held, organized by the Diplomatic Institute in cooperation with the "Hanns Seidel" Foundation of Germany. The theme of the seminar was "Politics of the EU and NATO in Southeastern Europe and the Black Sea region: foreign policy, security and energy." Participants in the event were 24 young diplomats, representatives of 15 countries from Southeast Europe, the Black Sea region and several EU Member States.
This year's international forum was opened by Mrs. Tanya Mihaylova, Director of the Diplomatic Institute and the Hon. Mr. Detlef Lingeman, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bulgaria. In the opening was also Mr. Bogdan Mirchev, representative of the "Hanns Seidel" for Bulgaria and prof. Shtratenshulte Eckart, director of the European Academy in Berlin, Germany. Ms. Gemma Grozdanova, Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, sent a congratulatory address to the young participants and wished them success in this seminar.
During the first two days of the Winter School participants presented policies on the topic of the seminar to countries different from theirs. Prof. Shtratenshulte was the moderator of this exercise for the eighth consecutive year. During the five-day seminar speakers in it were experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diplomatic Institute, as well as NGOs.
